Checkout Equipment Descriptions

Specifications for the different types of equipment offered by ETU for checkout.

Equipment For General Checkout:


  • LCD Projectors- for use with a PC or Mac laptop

All projectors include:
- VGA cable for use with laptops
- 10' power strip extension cable

Display adapters for Apple laptops are NOT included. Please see "Display Adapter" section below.

Policy: Priority will be given to on-campus classes. Off-campus reservations must be made by faculty or staff. Any projector used after ETU's closing time must be kept in a locked faculty office until the return time.

  • Apple Laptops

- 13" MacbookPro, runs OSX and Windows 7 Pro
- VGA display adapter for projectors

Policy: Laptops can be checked out for one calendar week at a time. For example, a laptop picked up on a Monday must be returned by 5:00 pm on the following Monday.

  • Display Adapters (for Apple Laptops)

Apple laptops require a display adapter to connect with a projector; there are several different types. To find the adapter you need, visit the Apple Display Adapter website. Display adapters cannot be reserved. They can be checked out on a first-come, first-served basis; you will need to leave your Bruin ID in exchange.

  • Portable Computer Speakers- (for use with a PC or Mac laptop)
  • Portable DVD/BluRay Player

Standalone Sony player, connects to TV or Projector with an HDMI Cable (not included). Power cable included

  • Portable USB DVD/Blu Ray External Drive

For use with Mac or Windows computers with a USB port. No external power cable needed.

  • MAXQDAplus version 12 for Mac and Windows

ETU has 10 USB sticks with MAXQDAplus version 12 for checkout. Most computers running Mac OS 10.7 or higher and Windows 7 or higher can run MAXQDA from the USB stick, while the stick is plugged in. These sticks can be reserved ahead of time, and can be checked out for one calendar week at a time.

  • HD Camcorders

    - Canon Vixia RF R7000 camcorder, battery, power cable,
    - USB cable, HDMI cable
    - wireless lapel microphone set

    Policy: Camcorders can be checked out for a maximum of 5 days. You must provide your own memory card, Class 4 or higher. Approximate recording times are categorized by your format. For ease of transfer, we recommend .mp4 for most shooting:

    32GB SD Memory Card in AVCHD*: 
    LP (1440 x 1080)**: 12 hrs. 15 min.
    FXP (1920 x 1080)**: 4 hrs. 10 min.
    MXP (1920 x 1080)**: 2 hrs. 55 min.
    NTSC 60p (1920 x 1080)**: 2 hrs. 30 min.

    32GB SD Memory Card in MP4*: 
    4 Mbps (1280 x 720)**: 17 hrs. 20 min.
    17 Mbps (1920 x 1080)**: 4 hrs. 10 min.
    24 Mbps (1920 x 1080)**: 2 hrs. 55 min.
    35 Mbps (1920 x 1080)**: 2 hrs. 


    •  Tripod

    Lightweight portable tripods for digital camcorders and cameras under 5 lbs.

      • Boom Microphone & Dual Shoe Bracket for Camcorders 

    Shoe bracket is compatible with ETU camcorders and other standard camcorders and DSLRs, boom mic has a 1/8" jack for camera input

    • Digital Still Camera

    Canon PowerShot S230, 3.2 Megapixel

    • Portable PA System (photo)

    -Speaker unit with battery and power cable
    -1 wireless hand-held microphone 
    -1 wireless lapel microphone 

    • Speakerphone - for audio conferences (for short-term on-campus use)

    Note: please read conferencing equipment and policies before submitting a request

    • Owl 360º Videoconferencing Unit (for short-term on-campus use)

    The Owl is appropriate for small- or medium-sized meetings of fewer than 20 people, with a few remote participants

    • Logitech Videoconferencing Unit (for short-term on-campus use)
