ETU's Equipment Checkout Policy and Process

The Purpose of ETU's Equipment Checkout Program

The Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, through ETU, provides and checks out the following equipment to support faculty and students in instruction and research-related activities within GSE&IS. Equipment is available for checkout to faculty, staff, and enrolled students of GSE&IS. To the best of our ability, we want to be sure everyone with appropriate need for equipment is able to check it out within a reasonable time-frame. For that reason, the policies and guidelines that ETU has in place with regard to equipment checkout will be strictly enforced.'

How to Check out Equipment:

  • Make a Reservation

Reservation requests for all equipment should be made in advance and will be confirmed according to availability. Reservations are made on a first-come first-served basis, and priority is given to on-campus instruction. All reservation requests should be made using the online form.The maximum reservation period is 1 week. Extensions may be granted on the last day of your reservation, availability permitting.

An email reply will be sent, either confirming the request or suggesting alternative dates/times if the equipment isn’t available per your request. We attempt to reply to all reservation requests by the end of the next business day, but sometimes this is not possible; please plan accordingly when making requests.

If for any reason you are unable to return borrowed equipment on time, you must contact ETU by phone at (310) 825-1911 before the scheduled drop-off time to make further arrangements.

  • Pick Up Equipment

Equipment may be picked up in 3051 Moore Hall during ETU office hours. UCLA Identification, proof of GSE&IS affiliation, and reason for use are necessary for checkout.

All equipment must be picked up and returned to ETU according to the exact reservation times. Equipment is not customarily set up or picked up by ETU. If you require assistance with setup, please let ETU know when the request is placed so that arrangements can be made.

  • Return Equipment

A date and time for return will be established; if no specific time of day is set, the equipment must be returned before 5:00pm on the return date. If an extension is needed, the borrower must bring the equipment back to ETU by the due date and check for further availability. Violation of checkout policies, especially late returns, can result in restriction or suspension of checkout privileges.
